PICCOLOS
The Piccolo section is a family of talented and hard working individuals that constantly support and care for one another. Within the section, the members make amazing friendships that are incredibly strong and long-lasting, and share in traditions like an annual fancy dinner followed by ice cream, binge-watching TV shows together, and holding “piccsmass” to celebrate the holidays with one another. Three adjectives that best describe the piccolos are thoughtful, creative, and funny.
Within the Piccolo section, there are three Rank Leaders and one section leader.
Prospective students are encouraged to reach out to their instrument’s section leader for the 2024-25 season to ask questions about auditioning or to learn more about their section and the ensemble. Please use the subject line “MMB Prospective Member Questions” when emailing section leaders.

WHAT IS THE PICCOLO SECTION’s favorite…
part of band week?
We take professional pictures in fancy outfits after only seeing each other in sweaty, sunscreen-covered outfits and go out to dinner, followed by ice cream at Blank Slate!
rehearsal memory?
Sometimes we give each other "foot-fives" and pass it down the line of piccolos whenever we are just standing on our dots and another section is being addressed by the professors.
pregame meal?
Breakfast tailgates!
game day tradition?
We all wear ribbons made by the section leadership in our hair on each game day! It is great since we earn one more set of ribbons each year of being in the MMB!
