ALTO SAXOPHONES

The altos are a talented, tightly-knit group of friendly individuals who are high achievers on and off the field. As a smaller section with around 30 members, new members are able to quickly get to know and befriend every alto section member! The altos are an enthusiastic, fun-loving section full of individuals eager to do whatever they can to help you succeed in the MMB, and of course, to make others laugh, while pushing one another to be their best.

The alto student leaders include three rank leaders and one section leader.

Prospective students are encouraged to reach out to their instrument’s section leader for the 2024-25 season to ask questions about auditioning or to learn more about their section and the ensemble. Please use the subject line “MMB Prospective Member Questions” when emailing section leaders.

WHAT IS THE ALTO SECTION’s favorite…

part of band week?

A beloved alto band week tradition is eating with one another by the alto lockers in the Revelli hallways. The hallway is a safe space for many, and it is where the altos get to know one another and create other traditions like Bing Bing.

rehearsal tradition?

Extra sets. After the sets of entries we do in our section circle at the end of every rehearsal, a few of us stick around for extra sets, where we do even more sets of entries to get ourselves prepared for game day.

Every Thursday we find something new to do as a section together. Whether it is dress up for Halloween or go pick apples, carve pumpkins, have a bonfire, or just simply hang out. It is always a great time to hang out with your best friends.

pregame meal?

Dinner at No Thai!

game day tradition?

Our favorite Game Day tradition is when the altos huddle up immediately after morning rehearsal and pump each other up for the game by singing together. We then break out of the hyper-energetic huddle yelling out "1-2-3-Altos Rule!"
