In Fall 2024, the University of Michigan launched our next major fundraising campaign. Aligned with Vision 2034, both efforts will use the overarching theme of “Look to Michigan.”

The fundraising campaign is structured around supporting University-wide priorities and positioning U-M as the leader that will forge real change, generate new knowledge, and answer the defining questions of our time.

The Michigan Marching Band enters this next capital campaign focusing on four areas of greatest need:

INSTRUCTION

  • Faculty and staff are crucial for the Michigan Marching Band to thrive. Support ensures that the MMB can attract and retain instructors who provide expert education that enables the MMB to maintain high standards of education, performance, and overall excellence.

    • Directors’ salaries

    • GSI funds

    • Drumline & Flag Instructors' salaries

    • Guest speakers & history sessions for students

STUDENT SUPPORT

  • Scholarships make attending Michigan and participating in the marching band possible for many students. It's nearly impossible for students to work while in the MMB. Scholarship support enables students to continue pursuing their passion for music and gain valuable life lessons beyond just the classroom and their areas of study.

    • Scholarships

    • Lab fees

    • Emergency funds

OPERATIONS

  • Support for items such as instruments, uniforms, Elbel Field, and Revelli Hall maintenance ensures we can continue to provide our members with a world-class and life-changing educational experience.

    • Facilities & field maintenance

    • Uniforms

    • Instruments & repairs

    • Equipment

SHOW PRODUCTION

  • Funds for show production are essential because they enable the Michigan Marching Band to deliver captivating performances that inspire audiences and showcase the talent and dedication of its members. These funds support creating and implementing innovative show concepts, including music arrangements, drill design, and visual effects.

    • Licensing

    • Show design materials/props

    • Drill writers & arrangers

    • Ultimate Drill Book licenses & technology for show execution
