MFLAGS
AUDITION DEADLINE - June 15, 2024
Flag auditions for the 2024-25 season will open soon. The deadline to submit a flag audition is June 15, 2024 by 11:59pm EDT. The flag audition is a two-part process.
Step One: Technique
Watch these videos to learn some MFlags basics. Each exercise has a demonstration video and one or more explanation videos.
Record yourself doing these exercises. Don’t worry if you’ve never spun before! There will be online and in-person opportunities for you to connect with leadership and get direct feedback about the new techniques you are learning.
Fill out the MFlags audition form. You will answer a few questions about your spinning experience and upload your exercise videos. This part of the audition is due by June 15, 2024 at 11:59pm EDT, and must be completed on time to be considered for the 2024 MFlags.
Step Two: Dance & Flag Performance
Shortly after the first deadline, you will receive an email with part two of the audition. It will include two short audition pieces for you to learn. This part of the submission is due by July 11, 2024 at 11:59pm EDT.

Filming Instructions & TIPS
Camera
Record on your phone’s rear-facing camera in the horizontal orientation.
No filters or editing.
Please ensure that the camera is stable and locked down. Use a tripod, if available. Do not move the camera while recording.
The camera should be at eye level.
If you’re placing your phone on a flat surface, make sure to place the phone on the side where the camera is furthest from the surface.
Record at the highest resolution possible (i.e. 4K or 1080p).
Framing
No one (except you) should appear in the frame.
You should be center frame. Ensure the focus is clear.
Your entire flag and body should fit in the frame. This includes tosses! Please record some practice videos to figure out how far away from the camera you need to be.
Uploading
Please create a YouTube playlist to put your videos in. This can be listed or unlisted, but please make sure anyone with the link can view it.
Each exercise (walks, “sashay, sauté, passé”, drop spins, and pull-hits/cones) should be a separate video.
Name the playlist “Your Last Name - MFlags Audition 2024” Here is an example playlist
Add the link to the playlist to the Google Form, found here
