EUPHONIUMS

The small size of the euphonium section creates a very close community where all of its members get to know one another and form lifelong friendships. The current size of the “euph” secction is 19 members, including two rank leaders and a section leader. The euphs know that they can depend on one another, especially when it comes to making others laugh and smile.

“We are so bonded and love spending time together. Our small size makes getting to know everyone very well a possibility. Being a new member in the euph section means immediately having 19 close friends.” — Lucy Trapp

Prospective students are encouraged to reach out to their instrument’s section leader for the 2024-25 season to ask questions about auditioning or to learn more about their section and the ensemble. Please use the subject line “MMB Prospective Member Questions” when emailing section leaders.

WHAT IS THE EUPHONIUM SECTION’s favorite…

part of band week?

Playing a secret euphonium game called "Bottle Ball" in the diag once the returners join the student leaders and new members. It's the first time our whole section is together!

Our first time in the stadium together we have a tradition known as "Euph Roll" where we roll over each other on the field in age order and take photos. These pictures are a staple in the memories of every season.

rehearsal tradition?

Gathering around the 10-yard line and throwing our hands in the middle after announcements and yelling "Awwwww Euphs!"

social activity?

Taco-Tuesdays have become a staple in the section house as we watch the Bachelorette. We have gotten into the routine of gathering for charcuterie boards every Thursday and just catching up on our weeks, as well as a cider mill trip.

game day tradition?

My favorite gameday tradition is waking up to the cacophony of a German polka called "Konis Hupen." It reminds me immediately that it's gameday and time to get ready!
